Germany seeks green hydrogen imports from India

Germany is exploring a renewable energy partnership with India that includes the potential import of green hydrogen. Georg Enzweiler, Chargé d’Affaires of the German Mission in India, noted that India possesses the natural resources and business environment necessary to develop renewable energy at scale.

Germany aims to utilize Indian green hydrogen to meet domestic energy requirements and reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports. In exchange, Germany could provide technological and industrial expertise to support India’s clean energy ecosystem. This cooperation could facilitate India’s transition toward self-reliance while creating a commercial model for hydrogen exports.
