Germany is pursuing a dual strategy to advance its green hydrogen sector through international partnerships and domestic infrastructure expansion.

On the international front, Germany is exploring a renewable energy partnership with India. The goal is to import Indian green hydrogen to meet domestic energy needs and decrease fossil fuel reliance, potentially offering technological and industrial expertise in exchange to support India’s clean energy ecosystem.

Domestically, several infrastructure projects are progressing. In Mechernich, RVK is constructing an electrolyzer and refueling station to supply a hydrogen bus fleet, a project supported by approximately €15.1 million in federal funding. Additionally, in Hünfeld-Michelsrombach, the H2-Hub Hünfeld—operated by Tyczka Hydrogen GmbH—utilizes a 5-MW electrolyzer powered by wind and solar energy to produce up to 450 tons of green hydrogen annually for fuel cell vehicles.
