Germany tightens road closure schedules on B105 and B88 in summer 2026

The Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern road authority announced that construction on the B105 between Bargeshagen and the Ostsee Park near Sievershagen will begin on 22 June 2026. The works, carried out by Georg Koch GmbH, have been rescheduled to compress full road closures into a tighter window. The first section will be fully closed from 22‑29 June, the second from 30 June‑3 July, and the final stretch from 6‑24 July, with the overall project expected to finish by 8 September, weather and technical conditions permitting.

In Thuringia, the Saale‑Holzland‑Kreis traffic authority plans a full night‑time closure of the B88 tunnel Rothenstein near Jena from 15‑17 July 2026, between 18:00 and 06:00 each night, to allow maintenance and cleaning. A large‑scale detour routing through surrounding villages and the BAB 4 is being signposted for both directions.
