Germany to host film programs commemorating victims of National Socialism

Various cultural and educational programs in Germany are scheduled to commemorate the victims of National Socialism.

In Köpenick, a screening of the documentary “Wie konnte es dazu kommen? Hindenburg – Hitler und die nationalsozialistische Diktatur” is set for November 27, 2026. The film features screenwriter and producer Norbert Egger and examines the historical role of Paul von Hindenburg. The presentation aims to address long-standing historical debates regarding Hindenburg’s involvement in the rise of the Nazi regime and his actions during World War I.

Additionally, the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) will host its third “Augen auf-Kinotag” on January 27 and 28, 2027. This initiative provides pedagogically supported film programs for school classes in cities including Berlin, Cologne, Munich, and Halle (Saale). The event includes exclusive previews, such as “Das Mädchen mit der Leica,” and panel discussions with guests from the film and cultural sectors to promote historical learning through cinema.
