Germany to reduce dental subsidies starting 2027

Starting January 1, 2027, statutory health insurance fixed subsidies for dental prosthetics in Germany will decrease. For insured individuals without a bonus booklet, the subsidy will drop to 50 percent of the standard treatment costs, down from the current 60 percent. With a five-year bonus booklet, the subsidy increases to 60 percent, and reaches 65 percent after ten years.

However, individuals receiving basic income support (Grundsicherung) will remain protected under hardship provisions. For medically necessary standard treatments (Regelversorgung), health insurance providers can continue to cover the full costs. To ensure full coverage, recipients must select the standard treatment and clarify their claims with their insurance provider in advance.
