Germany updates healthcare regulations and medical training

Germany is implementing significant changes to healthcare regulations and medical training. As of July 1, the revised Quality Audit Guidelines (QPR) of the Medical Service (MD) have come into effect, shifting the focus of nursing quality assessments from documentation and structural processes to outcome quality. The new framework evaluates how care actually affects patients rather than just checking if processes were documented.

Additionally, starting August 1, the basic training period for doctors will be reduced from nine months to six months. This change coincides with increased regulatory scrutiny regarding hygiene standards and documentation in medical practices. Operators face growing economic pressure due to the GKV Contribution Rate Stabilization Act, which is expected to result in average revenue losses of approximately 716 euros per physician.
