Germany's A1 Motorway Closures for Bridge Replacement and Drainage Works
The Federal Autobahn GmbH announced that the A1 exit at Hamm/Bergkamen will be closed for three hours on Monday, 15 June 2026, from 21:00 to 24:00. The short‑term closure enables preparatory work for the replacement bridge over the Datteln‑Hamm Canal between Bergkamen and Werne. Drivers must use a marked detour via the Kamener Kreuz.
In the weeks that follow, several full‑day closures are scheduled on the A1 between the Hamburg‑Stillhorn and Hamburg‑Harburg interchanges. These closures support drainage system repairs, the construction of a new Süderelb bridge and related preparatory tasks such as excavations, utility relocation and ordnance scanning. The affected lanes will be closed on weekend nights in June and July, with traffic rerouted along the U76 detour route via the Stillhorn interchange, B75, Kornweide, Neuland and Harburg.
Both sets of works are part of a broader A1 expansion project that will widen the highway to six lanes over a ten‑kilometre stretch and add noise‑protection measures for nearby residents.
