Germany's B35 and A281 Roadworks to Cause Major Traffic Disruptions
The federal road B35 between Bruchsal and Graben‑Neudorf will undergo a major renovation from August 2026 to June 2027. The eight‑kilometre stretch will be divided into seven construction phases, including full lane closures, bridge repairs and replacement of safety barriers. Drivers will face significant detours via the B3, B36, L558 and surrounding routes, with some sections requiring traffic lights to manage queues.
In Bremen, the A281 highway is being fully closed between the Seehausen and Neustädter Häfen interchanges as part of a summer‑to‑autumn resurfacing programme. The closure began in early July 2026 and will continue through October 2026, with traffic rerouted via Merkurstraße, Stromer Landstraße and Senator‑Apelt‑Straße. The project, costing about €5.5 million, will renew both carriageways and upgrade signalling equipment, affecting up to 29 000 vehicles daily, including many freight trucks.
