Germany's far‑right groups hit by cyber attacks and election disqualifications

The racist website PI‑News reported a massive wave of cyber attacks that left its servers overloaded and intermittently offline. Operators said the site was being flooded with thousands of daily registration attempts and DDoS traffic, forcing them to use donations for security upgrades and legal costs.

In Lower Saxony, four Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) candidates were barred from local elections by municipal election committees. The candidates excluded include Reinhild Goes from the mayoral race in Nörten‑Hardenberg, Stephan Bothe from the district‑admin race in Lüneburg, and Bundestag member Martin Sichert from the district‑admin race in Friesland, who has filed a lawsuit against the decision.

Separately, the extremist party Die Heimat, formerly the NPD, increased its street presence in Demmin, Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern, with activists wearing white vests marked “Heimatschützer” and patrolling public spaces under the slogan “Kein Aufsehen, aber Präsenz”.
