German far-right political and digital disruptions

Far-right groups and political entities in Germany have faced a series of disruptions and legal challenges. In early August, the racist website PI-News reported massive cyber attacks, including DDoS traffic and registration flooding, which forced the site to use donations for security and legal expenses. Concurrently, municipal election committees in Lower Saxony disqualified several Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) candidates from local races, including Bundestag member Martin Sichert, who has initiated legal action against the decision. Additionally, the extremist party Die Heimat increased its visibility in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern through street patrols.

By late August, the situation escalated into diplomatic allegations. The German Interior Minister accused Vladimir Putin of conducting hybrid attacks through alleged sabotage against the AfD prior to elections. Observers suggested these actions might be intended to create conditions that could lead to the targeting or dissolution of the AfD.
