Germany's Interior Minister Plans to End Information Freedom, Die Linke Warns

She said the proposals, backed by Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, would dismantle the central oversight body for state transparency and threaten democratic control. Bünger criticized the move as a "scandal" and argued that shutting down portals such as "Frag den Staat" would harm democracy. The party cited a recent MDR report outlining the ministry's intention to eliminate the commissioner’s duties, adding that recent debates over access to official documents have already been heated in the country.
