Susanne Daubner sings viral line as Jugendwort 2026 voting opens
Tagesschau presenter Susanne Daubner introduced the 2026 Jugendwort des Jahres selection in an Instagram video. She read the ten shortlisted terms – 67, Crashout, Digga, Du bist gut genug, Gute Käse, Macker, Peak, Ragebait, Schere and Süper – and surprised viewers by singing the line “Du bist gut genuuuuug” from the viral song “Du bist gut genug” by the music duo Blumengarten together with Kitschkrieg and Shirin David. The clip quickly amassed hundreds of thousands of likes, generated countless memes and parodies, and sparked online commentary praising Daubner’s performance. Voting for the top ten runs until 20 August; the three finalists will be decided in a second round from 28 August to 27 September, with the winning word announced on 10 October at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The Langenscheidt Verlag excluded the term “Mehrzweckeier” for political‑campaign and offensive connotations. The campaign has attracted widespread interest among German youths aged 11‑20.
