German Youth Word of the Year 2026 – Voting and Shortlist 更新
Entities: Langenscheidt Verlag · Tagesschau · Shirin David · Susanne Daubner · Skrilla
Overview
In late July 2026 the annual Jugendwort des Jahres contest entered its voting phase. Tagesschau presenter Susanne Daubner opened the competition with an Instagram video in which she read the ten shortlisted terms and performed a line from the viral song “Du bist gut genug,” generating large online engagement and setting the voting window that now runs until 28 August (originally slated for 20 August).
Langenscheidt Verlag released the official shortlist, listing “67” (a TikTok‑born numeric slang from the United States), “Crashout”, “Digga”, “Du bist gut genug”, “Gute Käse”, “Macker”, “Peak”, “Ragebait”, “Schere” and “Süper”. One popular term was omitted for undisclosed reasons. The numeric sequence “67” spread via TikTok basketball memes and the rap song “Doot Doot (67)” by Skrilla, confirming its status as the most frequently mentioned candidate. Daubner’s video attracted over one million likes, and she noted a similar surge of interest in 2021. The top three words will be announced on 10 October.
