Germany's KfW Barrier-Reduction Housing Grant Exhausted
The KfW‑run “Barrier Reduction – Investment Grant” programme, funded with €50 million by the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building, started on 8 April 2026. By 30 July the fund was fully allocated after supporting roughly 26,800 residential units, with about 21,400 applications approved and an average subsidy of €1,720 per unit.
No new applications can be submitted from August, though pending requests will still be processed and grants paid once eligibility is confirmed. The ministry has not announced a replacement round, but KfW indicated that if federal funds are made available again in 2027, the programme could be reopened.
