Germany's Kinofest offers five-euro movie tickets
The fifth edition of the nationwide Kinofest is scheduled for September 12 and 13, offering movie tickets at a flat rate of five euros across participating venues in Germany. The initiative, coordinated by industry groups HDF Kino and AllScreens, aims to boost attendance at local theaters, including independent art-houses and large multiplexes.
In the state of Hessen, the event includes venues in Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Fulda, Gießen, and Darmstadt, among others. Hessen’s Minister of Culture, Timon Gremmels, is set to appear at the Filmpalast Kassel on Sunday, while Minister President Boris Rhein serves as the official political patron for the celebrations in the region.
The festival follows a successful previous year that saw record attendance of approximately 1.65 million visitors. Participating cinemas, such as CinemaxX Trier, will screen a variety of films ranging from recent releases to special programming.
