Germany's Mandatory E‑Invoice Rollout Begins in 2025

From 1 January 2025 German companies must be capable of receiving electronic invoices that comply with the EN16931 standard. The requirement initially applies to receipt only; a full B2B outbound obligation starts on 1 January 2026, with the final mandate for firms exceeding €800,000 annual turnover slated for 2027.

The transition demands new software, staff training, and secure archiving solutions. Companies are advised to set up dedicated e‑invoice inboxes or obtain certified channels such as Leitweg‑ID or PEPPOL‑ID. Formats like XRechnung and ZUGFeRD will be used, and documentation of the invoicing process is required.

To help businesses prepare, Consult‑SK GmbH and CAS AG are hosting a free webinar on 20 August 2026. Speakers Stephan Kaup (Consult‑SK GmbH) and Frank Austel (CAS AG) will compare add‑on ERP options versus independent solutions and outline practical steps for a smooth implementation.
