Germany's median full‑time wages rise to €4,217 in 2025

The Federal Employment Agency (Bundesagentur für Arbeit) reported that the median gross monthly salary of full‑time employees subject to social insurance in Germany was €4,217 in 2025. Compared with 2024, wages rose by €203 or 5.1 %, a gain largely driven by higher tariff settlements.

The gender pay gap narrowed, with men earning a median €4,328 and women €4,019 – a difference of €309, €37 less than the previous year. Regional disparities persisted: the highest median wages were recorded in Hamburg (€4,768), Baden‑Württemberg (€4,546) and Hessen (€4,530), while Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern (€3,497), Thuringia (€3,508) and Saxony‑Anhalt (€3,563) were at the low end. The agency also updated its wage atlas, showing earnings increase with higher qualifications and older age groups.
