Tamaulipas government launches digital platforms and appoints new housing director

The state of Tamaulipas announced two new digital tools – “Tamaulipas Te Conecta” and “Tamaulipas te Atiende” – aimed at linking families in the twelve most disconnected municipalities with relatives in the United States and simplifying access to public services. Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya highlighted the initiative as part of a broader digital‑government strategy that earned national recognition for transformation excellence.

In a parallel move, the government named Germán Fernández Guzmán, a veteran construction professional, as director general of the Instituto Tamaulipeco de Vivienda y Urbanismo (ITAVU), succeeding Manuel Treviño Cantú. The appointment is intended to continue policies that expand access to dignified housing and secure land tenure for vulnerable families.

Other notable developments include the Confederación de Trabajadores de México (CTM) under Tereso Medina Ramírez pledging to abandon corporate political ties and push for a “living wage” for its six‑million members, and a federal request by the Partido del Trabajo to overturn a Tamaulipas municipal‑code reform that bars candidates under preventive detention from running for office.

The Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) extended the deadline for filing the electronic customs‑value declaration (MVE) to 30 September 2026, giving exporters additional time to adapt. Meanwhile, prosecutors in Tamaulipas reported progress in the investigation of a femicide case in Matamoros, identifying several suspects and coordinating with U.S. authorities.
