Global solar energy sector expands through new contracts and investments
Global solar energy developments are accelerating across several regions through new contracts, investments, and capacity expansions.
In Spain, GES (Global Energy Services) has secured EPC contracts worth 225 million euros to construct 12 solar plants across Aragón and the Comunidad Valenciana, totaling 583.41 MWp. Meanwhile, the Austrian group Verbund is advancing two photovoltaic projects, Rehala Solar and Stopper Solar, in Málaga with a combined capacity of 270.69 MW.
In Argentina, a private consortium is investing 24 million USD to build two solar parks in General Pico, La Pampa. This project, approved by Pampetrol, will add 30 MW of capacity, bringing the total complex to 45 MW. In Uruguay, UTE is preparing to tender three private solar parks totaling 99 MW.
On a national scale, Germany reported 12.76 GW of new photovoltaic capacity installed between January and September 2026, although the utility-scale segment saw a yearly minimum in September. In Australia, renewable energy and storage investments reached record levels in the third quarter, with 2.1 GW of large-scale renewable generation projects receiving final investment decisions.
