Getafe Turns ACAR Center into Shelter for Children Evacuated from Madrid Fires
The ACAR facility in Getafe has been repurposed as a temporary shelter for families displaced by the wildfires affecting the Madrid region. About twenty children from Robledo de Chavela are among those housed there. The municipality is providing meals prepared on‑site, as well as activities such as movies and toys to help the youngsters cope with the disruption.
Local businesses have contributed essential supplies, with donations coming from Costco, Mercadona, Lidl and Alcampo. The effort aims to cover basic needs, hygiene items and emotional support until the fire situation stabilises and residents can return to their homes.
