Ghana 2027 Budget to focus on jobs and economic transformation
Ghana’s 2027 Budget is expected to prioritize job creation, economic transformation, and investment to build upon recent economic gains. Under the potential theme, “New Economy, New Ghana: Jobs and Prosperity,” Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is anticipated to outline measures aimed at transitioning the nation from economic stabilization toward sustained growth.
A central component of the budget is expected to be the “New Economy Programme,” which focuses on local value addition to drive export earnings and employment. The fiscal strategy may include significant funding to complete ongoing infrastructure projects while remaining within the government’s established fiscal and debt frameworks to avoid excessive deficits.
Economic projections for 2027 could include a growth target of approximately 5% and an inflation target of 8%, with a two-percentage-point tolerance band. The government may also propose reducing the primary surplus target to allow more room for priority expenditures, balancing economic transformation with long-term fiscal sustainability and protections for vulnerable households.
