Ghana adds 2,000 laptops to boost One Million Coders digital skills programme

The Ghanaian government handed over an additional 2,000 laptops to the University of Ghana, bringing the total devices supplied for the One Million Coders Programme (OMCP) to 2,500. The hand‑over took place at the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) and was led by Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations Samuel Nartey George.

The OMCP is a flagship initiative that seeks to equip one million Ghanaians with industry‑relevant digital competencies, including coding, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics and software development. Minister George called the laptop distribution a major investment in Ghana’s digital future and urged beneficiaries to use the tools to create innovative solutions, launch businesses and contribute to the country’s broader economic transformation.
