Ghana Allocates GH₵50 Million for UMAT Kenyasi Campus Infrastructure

Ghana’s Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, announced that the government will allocate GH₵50 million from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to develop the newly commissioned University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) campus at Kenyasi No. 2 in the Ahafo Region. The funds, built into the 2027 GETFund budget, are earmarked for a modern administration block and student dormitories, infrastructure deemed essential for the campus to commence full operations.

The allocation is part of a broader government pledge to transform the Kenyasi campus into a fully‑fledged public university in the Ahafo Region before President John Dramani Mahama leaves office in 2028. The campus was funded in part by the Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation, and the minister also inspected nearby school projects during the visit.
