Ghana and Nigeria reinforce child trafficking prevention partnerships

In Ghana, International Justice Mission (IJM) renewed its partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, led by Minister Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, during a meeting with IJM West Africa director Anita Budu. The collaboration, which began in 2015, focuses on strengthening child‑protection systems, supporting rescue operations, public education, and tackling child labour and trafficking.

In Nigeria, the Uromi Justice Development, Peace and Caritas Initiatives (JDPCI) held a close‑out meeting for the Act Against Child Trafficking in Nigeria (AACTING) project in Uromi, Edo State. Executive Director Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Fidelis Arhedo called for continued stakeholder collaboration, noting the three‑year project (2023‑2026) that involved partners ECPAT France and Luxembourg and donor Agence Française de Développement (AFD). The event commemorated the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and highlighted joint efforts of government, law‑enforcement, religious and community leaders to protect children.
