Ghana and TradeMark Africa renew partnership to boost trade

Ghana’s Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MoTAI) has renewed its partnership with TradeMark Africa through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to enhance trade facilitation, increase exports, and support sustainable economic growth.

The partnership focuses on fulfilling Ghana’s commitments under major frameworks, including the World Trade Organization (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) trade agenda. Key initiatives include modernizing border management systems, developing digital trade infrastructure, and improving logistics networks to reduce costs along the Abidjan–Lagos Corridor.

To improve export competitiveness, the collaboration will emphasize standards and quality systems, particularly for agricultural and manufactured goods. The agreement also prioritizes inclusive trade by seeking to expand participation for women, young people, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through better access to trade finance and regional markets.
