Ghana and UK sign £215 million Growth Partnership to boost trade and jobs

President John Dramani Mahama and UK officials signed a £215 million Growth Partnership covering 2026‑2028 during the Ghana‑UK Investment Summit in London. The agreement sets four strategic pillars: attracting private investment, easing trade for Ghanaian businesses, supporting infrastructure and industrial growth, and expanding skills and education cooperation.

Key initiatives include a £101 million UK‑backed ship‑repair and dry‑docking facility in Takoradi expected to create up to 430 jobs, a £5 million Green Project Preparation Facility aimed at unlocking up to £180 million in climate‑focused infrastructure deals, and an £85 million reforestation fund listed on the London Stock Exchange. Additional programmes provide £6 million for Ghana’s AI strategy, £9 million for forest restoration in the Oti Region, and a £4 million five‑year healthcare skills partnership.

The partnership is designed to generate thousands of jobs, strengthen Ghana’s maritime and green economies, and deepen economic ties between the two countries as Ghana works to stabilise its economy after recent inflation and debt challenges.
