Ghana Attorney General fights to keep Kwabena Adu Boahene corruption trial alive

The Attorney General of Ghana has urged the High Court to reject a ‘no-case’ submission by Kwabena Adu Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB). Adu Boahene, his wife Angela Adjei Boateng, and their company Advantage Solutions are facing 11 financial charges related to the alleged theft and diversion of GH¢49.1 million intended for state cybersecurity software.

In a 25-page written submission, the Attorney General argued that the prosecution’s evidence, including witness testimony and documentation, decisively establishes the essential elements of the charges. The state maintains that the evidence leaves no room for doubt regarding the accused's involvement in the misappropriation of funds.

Key prosecution witnesses included the NSB Head of Finance, who testified regarding the transfer of GH¢49.1 million to an unknown account, and a former employee who claimed she was provided with pre-signed cheques to facilitate transactions. Additionally, an investigator from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) presented evidence concerning the accounts allegedly used to divert the funds.
