Ghana Attorney General seeks to block travel of accused Hanan Aludiba

The Attorney General of Ghana has filed an application at the High Court to set aside a June 29 order that allowed Hanan Abdul‑Wahab Aludiba, the first accused in the Buffer Stock case, to travel to the United Kingdom for specialist medical treatment. New information obtained after the order cites an alleged attempt by Aludiba to use a court order from a different case to access money in bank accounts that remain frozen under orders obtained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). The bank reportedly declined the withdrawal and alerted investigators. The application argues that these material facts, not before the court when the travel permission was granted, could affect the decision and raise concerns that Aludiba might not return for trial. Aludiba remains on bail and continues to enjoy the constitutional presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
