Ghana Attorney-General sued over alleged illegal arrest of ex-NAFCO CEO

Lawyers for former NAFCO chief executive Hanan Abdul‑Wahab Aludiba say he was arrested at Accra International Airport in violation of a High Court order that permitted his travel to the United Kingdom for a medical appointment. The legal team announced plans to file contempt proceedings against the Attorney‑General, the Deputy Attorney‑General and the Director of the Bureau of National Investigations, accusing them of deliberately breaching the court’s ruling.

The lawyers argue that no valid freezing order on Aludiba’s bank accounts was in force at the time of the arrest, noting that earlier charges were withdrawn on 5 May 2026 and that a May 20 ruling declared his re‑arrest a “fresh process,” implying any prior orders had lapsed. They cite similar permissions granted to other high‑profile individuals awaiting trial and claim the arrest reflects a pattern of harassment by the current administration.
