Ghana Audit Service recovers over GH¢18bn in public funds
Auditor-General Dr. Pamela Graham announced that the Audit Service has recovered more than GH¢18 billion in public funds between 2022 and 2026. During the African Organisation of Public Accounts Committees Conference, she reported that the service also prevented approximately GH¢11.7 billion in losses in 2025 alone by identifying and stopping irregular payments.
Dr. Graham emphasized that audit reports should serve as strategic intelligence for future governance rather than merely acting as historical records of financial irregularities. She urged public institutions to implement audit recommendations to strengthen internal controls, inform policy decisions, and improve accountability in the management of state resources.
