Ghana and Nigeria secure vital results at U-20 Women's World Cup

At the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland, both Ghana and Nigeria have secured critical results to keep their knockout stage hopes alive.

Ghana's Black Princesses rebounded from a 3-0 opening defeat against Ecuador with a 3-1 victory over South Korea. Goals from Sarah Nyarko, Ivy Osei Owusu, and Ruth Amponsah secured the win, moving Ghana into second place in Group C. Captain Nyarko was named Player of the Match.

Nigeria's Falconets earned their first point of the tournament following a 0-0 draw against China in Group F. After a 2-0 loss to Spain in their opener, the Falconets showed improved discipline, though they were unable to convert chances. The draw leaves Nigeria in third place in the group, making their upcoming match against New Caledonia vital for progression.

In Group F, Spain remains at the top following a dominant 11-0 victory over New Caledonia, while China sits in second place after their draw with Nigeria.
