However, the team recovered in their second match on September 9, securing a vital 3-1 victory against South Korea. The goals for Ghana were scored by Sarah Nyarko, Ivy Osei Owusu, and substitute Ruth Amponsah, moving Ghana into second place in Group C and keeping their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive. Captain Nyarko was named Player of the Match for her performance.
