Ghana boosts agricultural self‑sufficiency with new fertilizer plant and post‑harvest partnership

Ghana's Ministry of Food and Agriculture signed a memorandum of understanding with Omanbapa AgriTech on July 28 to develop a $10 million organic fertilizer plant. The facility, to be located in either the Ashanti or Ahafo region, will initially produce 20,000‑30,000 metric tons of organic fertilizer from agricultural residues, expanding later to 60,000 metric tons annually, aiming to cut reliance on imported chemical fertilizers.

On July 30, Natural Storage Solutions Pvt. Ltd. signed a MoU with Ghana under the Bharat–Ghana Shark Connect initiative. The agreement seeks to introduce food‑processing technologies and post‑harvest infrastructure to reduce losses, improve value addition and enhance food security, while strengthening India‑Ghana collaboration in sustainable agriculture.
