In late July 2026, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture entered into two significant agreements. First, a memorandum of understanding with Omanbapa AgriTech was signed to develop a $10 million organic fertilizer plant in the Ashanti or Ahafo region. Following these industrial developments, the Ministry launched the Ghana Agricultural Fund for Education and Transformation (GAFET) in August 2026. This national endowment is designed to provide sustainable financing for agricultural training and human capital development. Minister Eric Opoku announced that the fund aims to address funding gaps in agricultural education institutions, with a target to raise GH¢10 million by the end of 2026 and a long-term goal of GH¢100 million by 2028. The initiative is intended to support laboratories, research, mechanization, digital agriculture, and agribusiness incubation to ensure graduates possess the technical and entrepreneurial skills required for a modern economy.
