Ghana boosts SME export capacity with ministry partnership and SME Connect program

The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry met with the African Start‑ups and SMEs in Export Trade Secretariat (ASSETS) to explore a partnership aimed at strengthening Ghanaian startups and small‑medium enterprises' ability to enter regional and international markets. Deputy Trade Minister Hon. Sampson Ahi highlighted the need for capacity‑building, export‑readiness programmes and stronger implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area.

Separately, the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited, together with Republic Bank Ghana, launched the inaugural SME Connect event in Accra. The programme offered capacity‑building sessions and business‑linkage opportunities, featuring representatives from the ministry, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, the Ghana Enterprises Agency and other stakeholder bodies. GTFCL CEO Squadron Leader Naa Amerley Bamba said the initiative expands the company's role beyond fairs to become a leading trade‑promotion and enterprise‑development institution, aligning with national policies to industrialise and create jobs.
