Ghana Card: NIA implements revised fee structure and new Prestige Centre

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has implemented a revised fee structure for Ghana Card services, following approval by Parliament under the Fees and Charges (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Regulations, 2025. The new rates, which took effect on February 2, 2026, vary depending on the service type and the registration centre used.

District offices remain the most affordable option. First-time registration is free for Ghanaians under 25, while those 25 and older pay a GH¢30 fee. Card replacement and nationality updates at district offices cost GH¢200, and card renewal is GH¢150.

Premium Centres offer different pricing, such as GH¢410 for first-time registration and card renewal. Additionally, a new 24-hour Prestige Centre has opened in Labone to support the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda. This centre operates seven days a week and offers faster, more convenient access for an additional cost, with first-time registration and renewals priced at GH¢610 and card replacement at GH¢720.

The NIA clarified that the Prestige Centre is entirely optional and does not replace the 276 district offices available nationwide. The Authority urged the public to verify information to avoid confusion regarding national identity services.
