Ghana and Morocco announce squads for AFCON qualifiers

Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has announced a 24-man squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers and a friendly against Morocco. The squad features the return of key players Mohammed Kudus and Alexander Djiku following injury absences. New faces Jan Gyamerah and Ronald Donkor have also received their first senior call-ups. Queiroz emphasized that his selection criteria prioritize physical readiness and active competitive play, noting that the immediate goal is AFCON qualification while building toward the 2030 World Cup.

In Morocco, coach Mohamed Ouahbi has named his squad for AFCON qualifiers against Gabon and Lesotho, as well as a friendly against Ghana. The Moroccan selection includes three uncapped players—Abdellah Ouazane, Soufian El Faouzi, and Yassir Zabiri—alongside established stars such as Achraf Hakimi, Brahim Diaz, and Soufiane Rahimi. The two nations are scheduled to face each other in a friendly match in Tangier on October 4.
