Ghana evacuates 41 citizens from South Africa following xenophobic attacks
The Government of Ghana evacuated 41 additional citizens from South Africa on September 2, 2026, following xenophobic attacks in the country.
The evacuees were received at the Accra International Airport by Ambassador Alexander Grant Ntrakwa and officials from various agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana Health Service, and the Ghana Red Cross Society.
Ambassador Ntrakwa assured the returnees of the government’s commitment to their welfare, safety, and successful reintegration into their local communities. He encouraged the group to utilize their skills and experiences to contribute to national development as they begin their lives in Ghana.
