Ghana ex-NAFCO CEO Hanan Aludiba detained in contested arrest

On July 4 2026, former National Food Buffer Stock Company chief executive Hanan Abdul‑Wahab Aludiba was arrested at Kotoka International Airport in Accra. He faces charges of stealing and causing financial loss to the state, and the Attorney‑General alleged he attempted to withdraw money from a frozen Republic Bank account using a court order.

Aludiba’s lawyers, Dame & Partners, deny the allegations, saying no evidence exists and the Attorney‑General’s statements are false. They contest the revocation of a travel order that had allowed Aludiba to seek specialist medical treatment in the United Kingdom. The Human Rights Division of the High Court struck out Aludiba’s ex‑parte application to compel the BNI and the Attorney‑General to produce him after his release on bail and the filing of a withdrawal notice on July 9.

The lawyers quoted the press statement as “fraught with grave misrepresentation of facts” and asserted that their client has not been charged in relation to the alleged withdrawal attempt.
