Ghana EXIM Bank to establish garment factory in Volta Region

Ghana EXIM Bank CEO Sylvester Adinam Mensah has announced plans to establish a state-backed garment and apparel factory in the Volta Region. Speaking at the Volta Economic Forum in Ho, Mensah indicated that the new facility would follow the model of the Northshore Apparel Hub in the Northern Region, which has created over 2,300 jobs.

The proposed project is part of President John Dramani Mahama’s ‘Reset Agenda,’ aimed at economic recovery and job creation. Mensah emphasized the need to transition from discussing the region’s economic potential to actively building enterprises that drive production, investment, and export-led growth.

The previous Savelugu-based facility was funded through a partnership involving Ghana EXIM Bank, Germany’s KfW development bank, and the Agricultural Development Bank. The new initiative seeks to leverage the Volta Region’s resources to create employment opportunities for workers across the southern part of the region.
