Ghana faces rain and thunderstorms as GMet issues forecast

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) issued an impact‑based forecast for June 22, 2026 indicating rain and thunderstorms across many parts of the country. Cities such as Accra, Kumasi, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Ho and Sunyani are expected to experience intermittent downpours, with temperatures ranging from 31 °C on the coast to 35 °C in the north and nightly lows between 21 °C and 25 °C. The agency warned of rough sea conditions and advised fishermen, coastal residents and other sea users to exercise caution.

A prior forecast released on June 21 warned of continued cloud cover and intermittent rains nationwide, especially in the southern and coastal zones. GMet highlighted risks of flash flooding in flood‑prone areas and urged motorists to drive carefully during periods of reduced visibility. Residents were urged to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures as the weather system moves across the region.
