Ghana Finance Minister begins consultations on New Economy Programme

Ghanaian Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has initiated consultations with the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry to prepare for the government’s ‘New Economy’ transformational programme. The initiative aims to transition the nation from economic stabilisation toward sustainable growth, wealth generation, and job creation.

During the 2026 Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review, Dr. Forson stated that the focus is shifting toward building an economy that grows based on domestic production. President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the programme will involve a US$10 billion investment in key economic sectors. Full details regarding the transformational plan are expected to be presented in the 2027 Budget in November.
