Ghana Finance Minister signals shift toward sustained economic growth
Ghanaian Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that the country is transitioning from a period of economic stabilization toward a phase of sustained growth. He stated that the nation has “turned the tide” following a period of severe macroeconomic distress, though he cautioned that future progress depends heavily on maintaining fiscal and macroeconomic stability.
To ensure long-term resilience, the government is introducing a “New Economy” agenda. This initiative aims to shift Ghana away from its current model of exporting raw materials and importing finished goods. Instead, the plan focuses on strengthening local production, value addition, and processing to create more domestic jobs and reduce economic vulnerability to debt and inflation cycles.
