Ghana Football Association announces new Premier League prize structure
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced an enhanced financial package for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season. GFA President Kurt Okraku stated that each participating club will receive GH¢1 million in support, with a total of GH¢9.5 million being distributed to clubs. The league champion is set to receive GH¢3 million in prize money, while the runners-up will receive GH¢1 million and the third-placed team GH¢800,000.
In addition to the league prize structure, NASCO has upgraded its rewards for Man-of-the-Match winners. Distributed by Electroland Ghana Limited, the new prize includes a 32-inch digital television, a significant increase from previous rewards such as mobile phones and audio systems. These rewards will be implemented starting with the opening fixtures of the new campaign.
While the financial injections provide relief for clubs facing rising participation costs, observers note that the league continues to face challenges regarding long-term sustainability and the absence of a headline sponsor for the past seven years.
