Ghana Football Association extends Black Stars head coach search

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has extended the timeline for the Black Stars coach search committee, which is tasked with finding a successor to Carlos Queiroz. While initial reports suggested a recommendation would be submitted immediately, the GFA announced that the recruitment process will continue through November to ensure a structured evaluation of candidates.

The committee, chaired by former GFA vice-president Fred Pappoe and including members such as Stephen Appiah and Faisal Chibsah, will conduct background checks and interviews based on technical, leadership, and cultural criteria. The goal is to identify a candidate capable of providing long-term direction for the national team.

The search follows a difficult start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, where Ghana suffered defeats to Ivory Coast and The Gambia, leaving the team at the bottom of Group C. An interim technical team is expected to oversee the squad during the November international window while the committee completes its assessment.
