Ghana Football Association manages club licensing and league preparations

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is conducting its annual club licensing process to ensure teams meet necessary criteria for upcoming seasons. Esme Mends, the GFA Club Licensing Manager, noted that while many clubs have been approved, Ashanti Gold has currently been rejected. Mends clarified that this rejection may stem from an inability to provide specific documentation during the review period rather than a total failure to meet requirements, and noted that the club has the right to appeal the decision.

In related football developments, the GFA Executive Committee met with Women’s Premier League (WPL) clubs to review the 2025/26 season and prepare for the 2026/27 campaign. The meeting focused on improving the administration, visibility, and commercial appeal of the women's game. Additionally, a two-day FIFA Amateur Football Environment Analysis programme concluded in Accra, involving technical experts to assess the state of amateur football in Ghana and globally.
