Ghana football tournament to feature 12 regional and academy teams

The sixth KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U-17 Colts Championship is scheduled to take place from October 3 to 10, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. The tournament will feature 12 teams in total, consisting of ten regional sides and two GFA Elite Academy teams from Bolgatanga and Kumasi.

The ten regional teams confirmed for the competition include Greater Accra, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Upper East, Eastern, Central, Volta, Upper West, Northern, and Western regions. The Elite Academy teams will be represented by Bolgatanga Senior High School and Prempeh College.

Sponsored by the KGL Foundation, the championship focuses on talent identification and player development. It provides a national platform for approximately 500 young footballers to be assessed by professional scouts and development coaches. Before the competition begins, players, coaches, and officials will participate in FIFA Safeguarding orientation sessions to ensure standards for protecting young athletes are met.
