Ghana footballers Abu Francis and Abdul Fatawu Safiu seek comebacks with new clubs
Midfielder Abu Francis returned to competitive action after an eight‑month lay‑off, completing 45 minutes in Toulouse's friendly win over Rodez. The 25‑year‑old had missed the 2026 World Cup following a double tibia and fibula fracture suffered in a Ghana‑Japan friendly in November 2025, which required emergency surgery in Japan.
Former Asante Kotoko striker Abdul Fatawu Safiu trained with newly promoted Ghana Premier League side Debibi United and is close to signing a contract. The 32‑year‑old had previously undergone knee‑ligament surgery after a tear derailed his return to Kotoko, and hopes the move will revive his career and prove his fitness.
Both players aim to re‑establish themselves after lengthy injury recoveries, featuring for clubs in different leagues as they prepare for upcoming seasons.
