Ghana Health Gains from Gold Board Patient Aid and Prison Donation

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) used its Special Intervention Programme to pay GH₵23,110 covering the medical expenses of Madam Patience Ablakwa, a patient detained at Korle‑Bu Teaching Hospital after a successful hernia reconstruction. The payment enabled her discharge and return home, addressing a common issue of financial barriers to healthcare in the region.

Separately, the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) delivered a full container of medical equipment, consumables and supplies to the Ghana Prisons Service. Described as a historic intervention, the donation aims to improve healthcare delivery for inmates and prison staff, reinforcing public‑health safety as prisoners interact with the wider community. Both initiatives reflect a broader effort to extend quality medical services to vulnerable populations across Ghana.
