Ghana health donations and equipment support
Overview
In July 2026, community and institutional donors began a series of high‑profile contributions to Ghana’s health sector. On 16 July, Dr Ama Antwiwaa Adu‑Appiah received a Gh¢20,000 cash gift from the Paga Youth Movement, which she immediately spent on essential medical equipment for Paga Hospital, improving care for the local population.
A week later, the Ghana Gold Board used its Special Intervention Programme to cover GH₵23,110 in medical costs for a patient released from Korle‑Bu Teaching Hospital, while the Ghana Medical Trust Fund delivered a full container of medical supplies to the Ghana Prisons Service. These actions expanded the focus from a single rural facility to broader patient assistance and prison‑health infrastructure, illustrating a growing commitment to extend quality health services to vulnerable groups across the country.
On 1 August, BOSTenergies contributed GH₵1 million to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund. The fund will use the money to finance specialised treatment—such as chemotherapy, dialysis, and heart or brain surgery—for Ghanaians with chronic or life‑threatening illnesses who cannot afford care. The GMTF also reiterated its support for the prison system by delivering another large container of equipment and consumables, reinforcing public‑health safety for inmates, staff and visitors.
